Celebrating the life of

Joyce Enid Kohler

June 20, 1936 - July 07, 2024

Joyce Enid Kohler

Joyce E. Kohler entered into the eternal presence of her Lord and Savior on July 7th in Savannah, Georgia. Joyce was born to the late Keith and Frances Park on June 20, 1936, in Hamilton, Indiana. She met the love of her life, Charles Kohler in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where they married in 1953. She was a faithful and devoted wife and mother raising her four children Dawn, Charles, Teresa and Mark.

Joyce is preceded in death by Charles her husband of 67 years, her daughters Dawn Houston and Teresa Droz, granddaughter Jennifer Kohler, sister Marcella Kensill, sister-in-law Sharon Park, and brothers Irving Park and Darrell Park.

Joyce leaves behind her sons Charles Kohler of Burkesville, KY, Mark Kohler (Kathy) of Savannah, GA, son-in-law Chuck Houston of Tobaccoville, NC; and grandchildren, Jeff Houston (Adrianna), Jessica Morey (Robert), Lindsey White, Matthew Kohler (Julia),
Brittney Kohler (Nate Smith), Ashley Cobb (Carson), Cassie Giacone (John), Christopher Droz, 13 great grandchildren, brother Curtis Park of Fort Wayne, IN, sisters Ruth (Harold) Chester of Howe, IN, and Judy Pitser of Fort Wayne, IN.

Joyce believed for 88 years in the power of a word - whether God’s word, a well chosen Hallmark card, or a snappy little comment that slipped out while driving or cheering on her beloved Miami Dolphins and Atlanta Braves. She loved nature’s bounty of fragrant flowers and Florida citrus as well as listening to southern gospel music, especially the Gaithers, which was a highlight even in her last days under Georgia Hospice Care. Her family will greatly miss gatherings in her home, her tears in the driveway, and her unconditional love.

A  graveside  service will be held at Volusia Memorial Park in Ormond Beach, FL, on Saturday, July 13 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, remembrances maybe made to Samaritans Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.

I had the privelege of knowing and loving both Joyce and Charlie for a number of years from 1st Baptist of Daytona, where they both were members of my Sunday School Department. Charlievwas a gifted teacher, and Joyce was always ready to pitch in and do whatever wasc necessary to help with whatever project we undertook for the benefit of the department. They both were much loved and will be sorely missed here on earth, however, I'll bet that they are busy doing more of the Lord's work in heaven. My most sincere condolences to all of their family, and know that I share in your deep sense of loss.
